The Summit Concert Band was formed in 1982 when a group of local musicians climbed on to a flat bed truck to play in the Breckenridge Ullrfest Parade.
An interestings start for musical organization which grown in size to approximately 50 members, has become an official 501c3 charitable organization, has fostered other musical groups and has expanded performance schedules to include year around concerts.
The band has had a long and beneficial relationship with the Summit High School instrumental music program. Along with rehearsing in the band room, the band makes its extensive music library available for the high school band’s use. Additionally, the Summit Concert Band has been able to obtain grants to purchase percussion instruments for the Summit High School instrumental music program. Often times Summit High School band students perform with the band, expanding their musicianship and professionalism as a result.
The Summit Concert Band rehearses on most Thursdays from 7 to 9 pm; rehearsal location is normally the Summit High School band room. Summit High School is located on CO highway 9 approximately 4 miles south of Frisco, CO. Woodwind, brass and percussion players of all abilities are encouraged to join us. Visitors and part-time residents, as well as full-time residents of the Summit County area are welcome to participate in rehearsals and concerts.
